this is actually a teeny tiny little orange moth! that's a star jasmine flower - maybe an inch and a half across? - that its sitting on! i loved the orange color and the detailing on it's wings... big yellow swallowtails are making their passes through the yard here now. gorgeous!
no worries! i know that you know your butterflies and flowers and plants and birdies... i just meant this little moth was tiny! like the lil' grasshopper!
